JEE Chemistry Preparation Tips

The National Test Agency (NTA) has published the official Chemistry syllabus of JEE Main. Students are advised to check JEE Chemistry syllabus to get an idea about the chapter from where the questions are expected to be asked in the examination. Engineering students dreaming to crack JEE Main should ensure that they are intimate with the exam syllabus. JEE Chemistry syllabus is based on the topics covered in 11th and 12th Class. In the JEE chemistry syllabus, there are three sections in total. Section A consists of Physical Chemistry, Section B comprises topics on Inorganic Chemistry and Section C covers Organic Chemistry. Every section of JEE chemistry syllabus mentions in detail the topics which fall below each unit and chapter. Students can plan their preparation as per the syllabus for JEE Chemistry.

When you learn the word ‘Chemistry’, what pictures come to mind? atomic structures, periodic tables, Test tubes, laboratory coats, journals or few crazy laboratory explosion? It deals with the structure and properties of matter and composition. To boost your JEE Chemistry preparation, you must strengthen your conceptual understanding. Connect to the study material which grows along with our online preparation plan for IIT JEE Chemistry. The plan also includes videos which describe the most relevant questions for JEE Chemistry and their solutions.

How to Prepare for JEE Chemistry?

Don't clog your study with books: Reducing the clatter around your study table would not only help you have a sharp mind but improve your performance. Take for example, with fewer books around, it will be much more accessible to remember where you read a topic. If you want to do a revision, you can go back to that particular topic in that specific book and do the revision immediately. In the other scenario where you have many books than you can keep count of, you end up reading bits and pieces from all book. And every time you want a revision, you have to expend a lot of time and energy just to get the specific page for revision!

Start your JEE Main preparation early: JEE is a difficult battle and if you half-prepared there may be chances that you may be lost it. So, to succeed you require to prepare well. As an early starter, you will have time to twitch your preparation if you run off track. For example, if you are lagging in a particular topic, you will have time to choose if coaching is the way forward, or you want some other type of intervention. With sufficient time to prepare, you will be able to keep things under control and not panic as exam date approaches, considering you utilize your time reading and practising the problems hard.

Refer recommended books: Get books that you can follow and cover all section of the syllabus in detail. Books will have lots of examples to aid in the understanding of concepts. They will also have fewer errors and ambiguous comments. NCERT Chemistry books are an example of good books and are a good material to build introductory concepts.

NCERT Books: NCERT Chemistry books on their own are not enough to answer every question asked in JEE, and you have to read other authors books as well for holistic JEE Chemistry preparation. But that being said they are the most reliable material for making the basic concepts of all the topics covered in the syllabus. You must especially pay attention to the highlighted exercises presented in these books, as they are the key to knowing basic concepts of the subject and pave the way for you to get concepts you will come across in higher-level chemistry texts like Atkins.
